Walker is famous for shoddy scholarship and distortions:
Rather than repeat what has already been said eloquently on the page for A Woman's Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets, I refer you to that listing for many reviews by scholars and other well-qualified people who state, with specific examples, that Walker's references are often mis-used and misquoted, and that she grossly distorts history to serve her points. The Crone is no different. Add to that her vitriolic diatribes against men in general (which get tiresome quickly), and she is not an author worth... more info
Dangerous Book - It may change your life:
While many of Walker's ideas seem radical and controversial, the book is extensively researched, her thought process is logical, and in the context of current events the conclusions are totally believable. This book celebrates the place of perhaps the most marginalized group in our culture, while damning the methods and motives of the Christian church from the burning times through today. Crone deserves to be widely read both for its scholarship and its cultural import.
Deliverance of information rather vague:
(Written by Ms. LeClair's daughter,Parissa Shareghi, high school student)

Like most of the author's work....worth reading.:
But again, one grows tired of the tirade against men, Christianity, all things NOT feminine. She makes a good case for some things but you wonder if you can believe her or not because she is so embittered. I was glad I bought it, as I have been with all her books. The lady certainly doesn't lack for passion about her subject matter!
