Haven't sewn since eighth-grade home economics? With Home Décor Sewing 101, even you can create impressive window treatments, luxurious bed linens, decorator pillows, and other décor furnishings-and in just a few hours. Home Décor Sewing 101 makes it easy with a complete basics section, lots of tips, and 20 step-by-step projects illustrated with more than 300 close-up color photographs.
Each project introduces several new techniques and skills. For example, the versatile knife-edge pillow teaches how to set and press seams and sew perfect corners. A fleece throw in luscious sherbet colors demonstrates using a rotary cutter and mat, sewing raw-edged appliqués, and cutting fringe. The learning is painless and fun, and the results are real décor items like a cushy floor pillow, an elegant banded tablecloth, a valance, a shower curtain, and a duvet cover.
Many homeowners want to learn basic décor sewing because they're dissatisfied with the limited options offered by ready-made items but are shocked by the cost of custom ones. Luckily, sewing for the home is a great place to start, as there are no patterns, fitting, zippers, or sleeves.
Featuring convenient spiral binding so pages stay flat during sewing, color photographs of every step, and invaluable advice from experienced sewing teachers, Home Décor Sewing 101 is the perfect book for every first-time or rusty sewer.

Learning to sew looks easy:
This was a gift for my sister, but I looked through it and it has a lot of information that you don't find in most sewing books. It's great for those who are new to sewing, which we both are. I hope she likes it.
Great For Beginners!!!:
I purchased this book a year ago b/c I hadn't sewn anything since my high school home-ec class (15 yrs ago)and was wanting to make some pillows. This book has very clear instructions and pictures explaining each step. My pillows turned out great and I look forward to using more sewing ideas from this book in the future. It's an excellent book for beginners and those who might be sewing home decor for the first time. I just bought another copy for my sister-in-law (a birthday gift) b/c she just got her first... more info
Just the book I needed:
I recommend this book if you have basic sewing experience. It was just the book I needed to get started on some curtains for my guest bedroom. I enjoyed the step-by-step instructions and the clear and basic pictures of each process. I especially appreciate the glossery of terms which helped me to better understand my pattern. Lastly, the book is spiral bound which means that it can lie flat next to your sewing machine; a simple, yet useful feature.
