Editorial Review:

Good fit improves the comfort and appearance of any garment and is the reason many people sew their own clothes. However, it's common to worry about ruining a pattern when you cut it apart to make a fitting adjustment. The Perfect Fit makes pattern alterations easy with proven methods illustrated step-by-step. This complete guide includes analyzing a figure, measuring the body, customizing the pattern, and fine-tuning the fit with small adjustments like moving buttons and reshaping darts. The Perfect Fit shows how to change a commercial pattern sized for millions of women into a sewing blueprint sized to fit your figure alone.

Altering patterns has never been easier, thanks to the help of 400 step-by-step photographs!

Very clear:

I'm just beginning to use it, but so far, this book is very clear and well-organized. There are many helpful photographs and it's quite well written.

Not for Fatso...:

I'm a plus size woman who was looking for a book on how to create your own fashions. This is not it. All of the information in it applies to the small community only.

Clear Photographs of Fit Issues:

This is my most used fitting resource. It is extremely easy to pinpoint your fitting errors by comparing your garment to the clear photographs of fit issues in the book. Accompanying these are explanations and instructions for the alteration needed (along with additional photos of what the altered pattern piece looks like). There is a section on figure variations, where the 'standard' figure is shown alongside common figure variations (for example: average thighs, compared to full thighs and thin thighs).... more info

great help:

this has been a great help for adjusting patterns and getting a better fit. easy basic. and easy to understand including pictures for those of us who learn better by hands on doing. then just reading in a book.
