Yes it's very trying! It's even more trying when all your experience and credentials are rejected!! It's hard to keep a positive outlook, but Ruth Hertzberg tries and succeeds. Every time she works in a classroom, there is some student who gives her a compliment or thanks her for her efforts. She knows she has influenced the lives of countless people. Only a few of them have been able to acknowledge her role in their lives, but she knows that teaching is a very, very rewarding career, in spite of the efforts of administrators and other educators to turn it into "adolescent day care". Read this unusual, humorous account of what it's like to be in a classroom and in a university, trying to teach highly relevant historical events.
