Not the last word in shop vacuums: Well made and relatively quiet, this vacuum offers real advantages over your typical Sears screamer. But the volume of air (and therefore of dirt) that it sucks up, and its comparatively thinner hose, render it less effective. The tools (which must be purchased separately) are clunky and not well adapted to many kinds of cleanup. On the plus side, its well designed wheels and generous handle make it easy to move around and its exhaust is nicely distributed to avoid blowing up a dust storm behind you. The... Very quiet, and it grows on you!: I bought the DW792 in March, after I was standing by it for five minutes at a woodworking show without realizing that it was running! The vac really is very quiet, and the wheel/caster combo makes it easy to roll around (though the smaller from casters still catch on extension cords). I was a little skeptical of power at first - it just didn't seem to pull as effectively as my old Craftsman 16 gallon "screamer".
