Even better than I expected: Like almost everyone else here, I put off buying a premium combination square because of cost, and made do with cheaper combos, simple engineer's squares, various rules, etc. Further, I hesitated because opinions on Starrett's quality varies among machinists and from tool-to-tool. Many prefer Browne & Sharpe or Japanese lines like Mitutoyo. In the end, I finally broke down and bought the Starrett, really as much because it's the only commonly-available premium combination square as for any other reason... Just do it: Hemmed and hawed over the price. Finally had to buy one for a class that didn't want me to use the General I got at Home Depot for a about 1/5 the price. The Starrett is finally worth the money. The quality difference is huge. It will be the last one you buy. If you need accuracy in a square: Starrett C33H-12-4R 12-Inch Combination Square with Square Head Only One spends this much money for a square to get accuracy. Starrett is world renowned for accuracy in their tools. However, the first unit shipped by Amazon was not square when checked against 3 different machinist's squares. Amazon promptly replaced the first unit and the 2nd model is square as expected. Thanks, Amazon.
