Filigree pattern of gently scalloped edges and embossed arches
Base has raised border to keep lid from touching butter
Safe for microwave, oven, freezer, and dishwasher
Editorial Review:
Embossed detailing complements the gently scalloped rim of this classic white pattern. The delicate nature of the ornamental work suggests a subtle femininity without being prissy or overly sweet. As with any white dinnerware, accessorizing can dramatically and economically change the entire look, making it more urban or more country, more casual or more formal.
This Pfaltzgraff stoneware covered butter dish comes in a basic off-white with a not-so-basic filigree pattern of gently scalloped edges and embossed arches. Its beauty lies in its subtlety. It's pretty but not overly feminine, so it wouldn't be out of place in a bachelor pad. The base has a raised border to keep the lid firmly in place and away from the edges of the butter. The inset is generously sized to accommodate a full stick, plus nearly half of another one, so you can refill the butter dish as soon as you notice you're running low. As with all Pfaltzgraff dishes, single replacement pieces are available if you ever break one and need, say, just the lid. The stoneware is safe for use in microwave, oven, freezer, and dishwasher. Three-year warranty. --Doree Armstrong

Not as chic as displayed, Made in China:
From the picture displayed, you would think that this is a simple chic European design. But it's not. It's impossible to see even in the enlarged picture, but when you look at the actual product, you'll see that the base part has some kitshy flowery twines enbossed, which make this butter dish look like inventory of an American diner where people wear baseball caps for dinner. It's not really ugly, but it's definitly not as plain as depicted, so you might want to keep that in mind before buying... more info
It's a butter disk, what can I say? But it does its job.:
With 3 kids this dish gets its share of pounding and it's still in one piece. A simple, functional, butterdish. Not what you buy as a present for the queen, but it serves its purpose.
Very Nice butter dish:
This is a great butter dish. Color & classic style goes with almost anything. I recommend it. Put some class on your table.
First Pfaltzgraff:
This is the first Pfaltzgraff item I have ever owned but I'm sure it won't be the last. I bought this butter dish because of it's simple design and I'm glad I did. It's design allows it to work with my everyday dishes as well as with my special china.
