Editorial Review:
Powermatic's Model 66 left-tilt 3-horsepower table saw has the heaviest cast-iron trunnion on the market, providing virtually vibration-free cutting. The standard table with extension wings measures 28 by 38 inches and is precisely machined and fine-ground polished to a mirror finish. The left-tilting blade prevents binding of stock between the blade and fence, substantially reducing the risk of kickback. The heavy trunnions ensure smoother cuts. The high-efficiency 3VX drive-belt system delivers torque more efficiently and generates less heat. The award-winning Accu-Fence system creates an easy-gliding, precision fence with a full 50-inch right hand and 12-inch left hand cutting capacity. Sturdy cast-iron hand wheels offer smooth adjustments. Built-in dust outlet makes cleanup a snap. You receive $292 worth of free options: dado insert, motor cover, extension table, and legs. Known as one of the few quality saws still made in America, what really sets the Powermatic 66 apart from the competition is about 200 pounds of solid vibration-reducing cast iron. The weight of this machine makes it the smoothest-running tool in its class. A 40-pound, single-piece, cast-iron trunnion reduces vibration from the 3-horsepower motor. Combine this with the 28-by-38-inch cast-iron tabletop and you have one beefy machine weighing in at just under 600 pounds. The unique belt-drive system distributes torque more efficiently with less wasted energy going to heat. Staying cool means a longer motor life and less wasted electricity. The Powermatic 66 has a convenient, hinged front access door and a 4-inch dust collection port for easy connection to standard dust collectors. The 50-inch Accu-Fence has an interior spring that applies constant pressure when not locked down, which takes the slop out of fence movement, improving accuracy and the speed of fence adjustments. It also has replaceable sides with easy-access screws. Users can adjust the sides so close to the tabletop that laminates will not slip underneath. The Powermatic 66 is the classic choice for professional cabinetry and furniture shops, as well as for hobbyists who spend more time in the shop than on the couch. --Nancy Gleason

Timeless classic:
Had this saw for a little over 2 years now. Works like crazy and just laughs at the tough stuff. Precise, stable, predictable and a joy to use. If you want to use the good blades and do the good work, you need this saw or one very similar.
Blade change a real hassle.:
As far as how the saw works and cuts, I have nothing but praise. However, my only pet peeve is I can't stand having to use a piece of wood to keep the arbor from turning whenver I change blades. I know there are blade locks when using a single blade, but you still have to jam a 2X4 in there whenever you have to change a dado set. Powermatic knows this and has provided an arbor lock on their Model 1000 series. But, for the rest of us 66 owners, there is no relief. I have checked with my local Tool Zone and... more info
Fence Rails... Angle Iron... Come on... You can't be serious!:
Oh My God, this saw is a dream, but when I first unpacked it and saw the 2 7 foot long pieces of angle iron I was VERY SKEPTICAL. But my son and I suffered through the assembly and alignement over 2 beers (for me) and a pop (for him).. total time near 3 hours to first spin of the blade. Absolutely no problems with assembly or adjustments and alignments. Heavy metal needs 4 hands in some cases, but that is what my son was there for. Impressive manual and easy to follow instructions provided you go slow and... more info
Tom Staten:
The saw is a dream to use and is very accurate. There is one very frustrating problem however. The dust colleciton port on the back is supposed to be a standard 4" port. All the standard fittings, including the recommended JET fittings do not fit. WHM Tool Group has been very frustrating to work with. I hope they are not this problematic with other issues as well.
