This saw lives up to Powermatic's reputation for rugged construction and unrivaled performance. The cast-iron tabletop and its two wings are ground to a mirror-like finish with amazing accuracy in flatness. One thing we've always liked about Powermatic's saws is the left-tilting arbor. Tilting the blade to the left--away from the fence--eliminates the need for a sacrificial fence and reduces the risk of the piece binding under the blade. This package includes a 30-inch Accu-Fence, famous for its precision and ease of use, making each job go faster. This fence length is perfect for the home shop where space is an issue and big projects are less common. An interior spring applies constant pressure when not locked down, which takes the slop out of fence movement, improving speed and accuracy. It also has replaceable sides with easy-access screws. Users can adjust the sides so close to the tabletop that laminates will not slip underneath. Initial setup should go faster now that Powermatic has made it easier to align the fence rails parallel to the tabletop. Another advantage is the longer bar of the T-slot miter gauge, which allows users to crosscut wider stock. Overall, Powermatic table saws are top quality and built to the tightest tolerances in the industry. --Nancy Gleason

An Overrated Brand:
This is a good, relatively inexpensive cast iron table saw. And that is all that it is. The AMZN review by Nancy Gleason is misleading. Left tilt saws are better, but they are ubiquitous. Read the reviews. They are quite accurate and touch on many important aspects. It is curious that many reviewers make significant criticisms while indicating a very high rating. It is not unusual that this saw's top is not level, the splitter is difficult to adjust, the belt guard is infamous (and has been so for... more info
Solid machine:
This is the second powermatic tablesaw I have had the oppurtunity to work with. Assembly was easy, took about 4-5 hours. I had to take some time to get the motor alignment correct, but once everything was done properly it purrrs like a kitten. The accuaracy is great, very solid machine for many years of service. The one and only knock I can think of is the motor alignment. When first asembled I had alot of vibration. After looking closely the belt had rubbed on the guard screws and took a chunk out of it.... more info
Gold Standard for 750$?:
Easy to assemble even for a novice. Took about 4 hours with the help of my Wife. Couple of gripes on set up is the guard for the drive belt. Your drive pulleys must be precisely aligned for it not to rub badly. Also, the blade guard/splitter combo anti kickback mechansims mar the item being cut. The guard splitter is also very bulky and akward to adjust, at least for me. Blade adjustment was neglible due to it being dead on out of the box. The fence system is excellent, just make sure you align it... more info
Just got most of it:
I just received most of the saw, the fence rail is missing, it's on the way. I assembled the saw lined everything up, but it vibrates. I don't know how this thing can pass a nickel test. I lined the pulleys up with a 32 inch level so they are pretty dead on. I notice the motor shakes a bit on start up and shut down, does this change if I wire it for 230? Any other helpful hints on getting it to stop shaking will be helpful.
