The Jorgensen 12-Inch Heavy-Duty Steel Bar Clamp has a 12-inch opening and 3-inch reach for your heavy-duty projects. Two clamp pads protect your work from damage, and the fixed head is pressed and riveted to help keep material in place. Steel internal tooth washers measuring 1-3/16 inches in diameter give the swivel more stay-on power, while the castings use hardened steel thrust bearings and malleable ductile iron castings for extra strength. High-carbon steel gives the plated bars added staying power, and the large maple handles keep your hands fresh. This clamp is backed by a 1-year limited warranty.

Too bulky:

I would not buy these again. They are to awkward and hard to tighten. Although they are very strong, they are just not easy to work with

Great clamp. Threads too course:

I bought a few of these clamps the other day. I removed the plastic pads immediately because I use separate scrap wood to prevent damage. I figured the plastic pads would not protect from the clamp digging into my work. I do not like the course threads as compared to the light duty 3712s. I can not get as tight of bond as I can with the light duty 3712s. Other than that, a great clamp.

The Standard Bar Clamp:

There is nothing more to say about Jorgensen bar clamps but do not just take my word and try one and you will see for yourself. They are the sturdiest and heavier clamps on the market. Simply excellent. My only complaint is that their wood handles could be at least a half inch larger in lenght but do not let it intimidate you. Best Buy.

Good clamps but plastic pads stain the work:

I bought my clamps in December of 2005 and the oily plastic pad problem has not been fixed. The clamps are very nice otherwise. Just remember to protect your work from direct contact with the plastic pads.
