With a slick, tough, scratch-resistant soleplate providing a smooth glide, an antiscale system in the large water tank to combat mineral buildup, and extra holes offering lots of steam, this full-size, 1,400-watt iron is ideal for household ironing. For safety, the iron shuts off in 30 seconds if left horizontal or tipped over and in 8 minutes if left vertical. It has a pivoting 11-foot-8-inch cord, vertical steam for removing wrinkles from hanging garments, variable steam for making fine adjustments, and both a misting spray and a steam burst for dealing with stubborn wrinkles and creating sharp creases. In addition to 17 large steam outlets in the soleplate there are 38 microholes for ultimate steam diffusion and 14 more microholes near the tip for easy ironing of pleats and around buttons. Accompanying the iron is a narrow container for dripfree filling of the water tank. The soleplate carries a 10-year warranty against defects, and the iron has one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

I like this iron!:
From a guy that does most of the ironing around the house, this is a great iron!
My previous iron was a $100+ iron made by Rowenta. That iron lasted about 3 years before it began making clicking sounds and would stop heating. I decided to purchase this iron based on the high reviews here.
Bottom line is that ironing is made much easier with this iron.

Ok at first:
Iron worked great at first but now will not stay on or make steam just a waste of money, all this after only 5 months.
Rowentas are all hype:
I ordered three irons: A Rowenta Precision, Luxe Professional, and the Tfal 18301 (Avantis 130). The Rowentas certainly seem to be well built units, but they fail to get hot enough to remove the fine wrinkles. The Tfal gets plenty hot (same power rating as the Precision) which is far hotter than either Rowenta and the steam is plentiful. At the price, you simply can't beat this unit. The only downside is the feel of the sliders, they feel very cheap, but this is a minor quibble. In addition, the iron is... more info
IF you are looking for a weighted iron that rocks...:
When I opened the box, I knew I bought the best iron. It has considerable weight to it, which I knew I had to have. It is comfortable to hold and fill. I don't care that there wasn't an "ON/OFF" switch because I always unplug my iron when finsihed. What I like is the fact that it will shut off if ignored. THAT is the best safety feature in my opinion. The steam and heat are incredible. If you are like me, finally replacing the $.. cheap irons and a little nervous about shelling out the money, rest assured... more info
