SHIPPING POINT Standard Equipment: Upper blade guide micro-adjustments for quick, accurate setup. V-groove blade guide bar provides you with consistent and positive alignment. Graphite impregnated polymer "JET Blocks" in the blade guides for quicker setup and a cooler running blade. Extra large 15" x 15" cast iron work table is offset to offer you more work area in front of the blade. 3/8" Woodworking blade, 6 teeth per inch. Built-in dust chute.
JET's 14-inch band saw offers woodworkers two big improvements over other band saws in this class. The blade guide with light spring tension inside the mechanism was the first thing we noticed. It stays in place when you loosen it instead of crashing down on the tabletop (or your fingers) as guides from other saws can. This allows for two-handed height adjustment, letting you set the guide precisely where you want it quickly and easily. The blade guide also offers oil-impregnated plastic parts rather than steel, so the blade stays sharp longer. We were also impressed with the blade tracking device, which locks in place so there's no need for readjustment after the test run. The saw has a 1-horsepower motor that's fan cooled and fully enclosed for dust protection, and computer-balanced, die-cast aluminum wheels for smooth operation. The 15-by-15-inch cast-iron table is slightly larger than tables on competing band saws, and it tilts 45 degrees to the right and 10 degrees to the left.
Other advantages include a heavy-gauge metal housing and a powder coating (rather than paint), meaning the saw will hold up to regular usage and still look good. Another user-friendly feature is the quick-connect electrical plug, so you don't have to follow long cords to their outlets before each blade change. Band saws aren't the dustiest machines around, so the 2-inch dust port for the shop vac seems just right, but a 2- to 4-inch converter can be added for use with a more serious shop-dust-collection system. This saw is best for shops doing smaller pieces or serious hobbyists who want to do fine work. Owners will enjoy quick and easy setup by following a clear set of instructions. --Nancy Gleason

Dust collection usless:
I bought this bandsaw through Woodcraft. At the time it was $549.99 with free shipping, $50.00 rebate AND free miter gauge and fence. A great deal I figured.
This saw has quickly become one of my shops most valued tool. It performs flawlessly and it's a pleasure to use. Most of my sawing is for resawing Cherry 5/4 into veneer. I want to stretch the cherry wood I had milled four years ago from trees that were cut on my property. It does the job perfectly for that.
I only have two beefs with Jet.... more info
still working strong:
I have had the Jet bandsaw for over a year. I have used to resaw 2x4 pine boards to build a fence. It has done well to resaw hardwoods such a oak and birch. It has all the power needed to resaw a 6" oak board. I also make boxes which I cut curves in a 6" thick piece of hardwood with no problems. I would recommend spending the extra money to get the 1 hp motor instead of the 3/4 hp. The guides adjust quickly and the blade tracks well. The only problem I have had is the blade tensioner broke after... more info
Look Elsewhere, This thing is no good:
I bought this saw three years ago and have had nothing but problems since. I also have a Jet tablesaw -- which I love -- that led to me purchasing this bandsaw. For the money, this saw should come better built, better-equipped, and/or better-priced. It lacks decent blade bearings -- so add to purchase price $100+ for Carter bearings. Also add the extension pack for resawing -- another $50-$100, plus blades.
It lacks a blade de-tensioner, add another $150. It does not come balanced... more info
Timothy the Tool Man:
This is my fourth band saw. And it the best one so far. Needless to say that I use it a lot. I did add the 6" riser kit and am happy with the way that worked out. The blade is still very solid and has that really nice sound of a good band saw. You know the sound when you hear it. I have only one thing that I wish it had on it. That would be a blade brush. The wheels seem to pick up junk that will get them out of balance. Other than that I am very happy with this tool and I would do it again if I need... more info
