Wide dust hood captures chips
Editorial Review:
Wide dust hood captures chips, and dust debris
You know you're a real woodworker once you start ogling dust-collection systems--it's the next logical step when you're making more sawdust than you can sweep. There are lots of reasons to bring one of these into your workshop: safety, air quality, and time--you can spend more time making sawdust rather than sweeping it up! This model is a favorite of ours for a few reasons: price, power, and size. You're not going to find many systems at this price that will move 550 cubic feet of air per minute, as this AP300 can with its 3/4-horsepower motor. It's totally portable, too, and at 50 pounds, it totes easily from one tool to the next with a comfortable grip handle. The 4-inch intake hose fits the standard dust chute that comes on most tools, and a nice wide hood will capture chips and dust and debris. One more advantage to this little fellow over a stationary system: it'll hang on your wall for storage, up out of your way--a huge plus for folks with space-challenged workshops. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Gave it away:
Delta AP300 Shopmaster 3/4 Horsepower 680 CFM Horizantal Bag Dust Collector, 120/240-Volt 1 Phase I gave it away. It is a weak product that does not take in much dust. Bag is a pain to empty. If you are going to get a dust collector, don't expect too much from what you buy unless you get something over $1000.
Good Dust Collector But.....:
This device works well as a dust collector but not a chip collector. I have tried to use it with a thickness planer but the chips clog on the intake opening cross bar. It works with my router dust vent okay. I assume it work okay with an sanding table. Don't expect too much from this.
Great dust collector for its size & cost.:
I bought this collector to fit under my 8ft x 8ft work table in the center of my shop which the tall vertical versions won't do. It's networked to a Delta table saw and a Hitachi P12RA planar/joiner. Adding a remote start (one remote for each machine) makes it a real joy to use. A previous reviewer mentioned that large chips coming off a shaper table will clog it. I'll add that chips coming from a planer will too. However, that's easily remedied by cutting (with snippers) the aluminum inlet guard off... more info
