You need power, but you don't want to hoist a ton. Here's the answer. DeWalt's revamped 18-volt compact drill/driver delivers on both counts, with a 1/2-inch chuck that grips beefy bits, an 18-position adjustable clutch, and a high-performance motor for the torque you need, packaged in a truly lightweight, comfortable drill. The variable speed has a high and low range for any application, and the reverse switch is right above the curved trigger for easy access. The included charger juices up a spent battery in an hour. We especially like the light weight, even more so because it doesn't cost in the power department. Lots of pluses: on-board bit storage, two batteries, hard case. Top-notch tool!!:
I have used DeWalt drills for a long time now, but because of artiritis in my hands have not gone beyond the 12V. system. Larger drills seemed just too heavy for me to handle. I purchased the 18V. system because the price was terrific. After using the drill for 2 days on a decking job, I was quite surprised how easy it was to handle and how long the batteries held up. As with most DeWalt products, it is rugged and well-built. I just hope the batteries last a good while as replacements are very expensive.

I purchased this Dewalt to replace an old Crapsman I've been unhappy with for a long time. I haven't used it a lot yet but so far I've had no issues with it. I'm still running off of the first charge on the first battery. I like the smart charger. Not only CAN you leave the spare battery on the charger, it's recommended you leave it on the charger to keep the battery's charge balanced. I like the torque. I like the easy to use chuck. It seems to be a solid, well made tool.

Love this drill. We made a video manual for similar DeWalt 720KA drill on HandBookLive.com (under Tools). The drill is very simple to use, but if you are more visual and don't want to to read instructions - this is a quick way to see what it does, and how to use it. In my opinion the video is more useful for woman like me, who want to feel more comfortable using a drill for the first time (I remember using a screwdriver forever because I just wasn't so sure what kind of damage I can do with an electric... more info
