Includes X5 5 HP Left Tilt Unisaw® - 36-L51X-BC50, 5 HP, 230 Volt Single Phase TEFC Motor w/ Full Voltage Magnetic Starter, 50" Biesemeyer® Commercial Fence System, Carbide-Tipped Saw Blade, Right Extension Table, Adjustable Steel Support Legs, (2) 10" Cast-Iron Extension Wings, Standard Insert, Miter Gauge, Motor Cover, 4" Dust Connector, Blade Guard.
Ask people who cut wood which is the best table saw on the market, and guaranteed, a good number of them are going to tell you it's the Delta Unisaw, and for good reason. This is one of the most powerful, smoothest-running saws available, and it's become iconic for its accuracy, power and the quality of its workmanship, from the motor down to the T-slots. It's paired up here with a 50-inch Biesemeyer fence, widely acknowledged to be top of the line.
There's a 5-horsepower motor under the hood, providing 4,000 rpm, and there's nothing it can't handle. Eight-quarter oak, ripping a full sheet of 3/4-inch ply, it's all butter. This beefy motor is mounted beneath a smooth-as-glass cast-iron table and two cast-iron extension wings that along with an auxiliary table give you a positively luxurious 76-by-27-inch work surface - necessary, of course, because of the flawless 50-inch Biesemeyer fence. It glides as if it's on air, and when set, its three-point locking system absolutely guarantees the fence will be nothing but parallel to your blade time after time, accurate to within 1/64th of an inch. In addition to your maximum rip of 50 inches to the right of the blade, you can rip a full 12 inches left, too.
The blade lift and the bevel mechanisms are so smooth, it takes no effort to turn the handwheels, and the fit and finish of the entire saw is nothing short of perfect. But surprisingly enough, we weren't that impressed with the standard miter gauge included with the saw. It's accurate and solid, yes, but not exceptional. There are a good number of outstanding after-market miter gauge setups available, if you choose to go that route.
Assembly will take you and a friend a few sweaty hours, but after that, it's the good life. Some paste wax or talcum powder on the tables, an interior cleaning once in a while, and this saw can easily be the last one you ever buy. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Great saw - eventually:
I purchased the Delta 26-L51X 5 horsepower Unisaw through Amazon.com on November 12, 2006. The next day, I received an e-mail from Amazon.com that the saw had been shipped. The saw arrived within a week, but I did not unpack the saw until later in November. Although the external carton and the saw cabinet indicated the saw was a 5 hp model, the saw actually had a 3 hp motor installed. This was discovered when I removed the external shroud over the motor. I sent an e-mail to Amazon.com on November 29, 2006... more info
trunion not in the guides:
Just unpacked the 5hp unisaw and very disappointed. The rear guide the steel trunion rides in/on was not in the groove. Looks like I need to go out and buy a 3/8" allen wrench and remove the table and rear trunion suppurt so I can fix it. How could this have made it past the quality controll, guess there isn't one!
Well, worth the investment, hope it lasts 50 years...:
I bought this table saw back in May, and I've enjoyed it every single day I've used it. I've been working with wood for the past 3 years, and decided it was time to upgrade to something that will last a long time. I'm very happy with the Biesemeyer Fence, as it is deadly accurate after you set it up. You will definately need some help installing the extension wings and extension table board. I did it myself, but it would have probably taken me about a third of the time if I would have had someone else help.... more info
Clarification:
The previous reviewer, Richard, stated that he used 18 AWG wire to replace the cord on his saw. I believe that is a typo and that Richard meant 10 AWG wire since 10 ga is the recommended wire size for a 30A circuit. I bought a length of SOOW 10/3 with the same NEMA L6-30P plug and NEMA L6-30R receptacle that Richard recommended. Don't forget strain relief on your cord, especially if using an overhead outlet. I used the Hubbell 073041279 bus grip attached to a hook screwed into the ceiling.
