Editorial Review:
Features: Ultraglide soleplate with active lines for easy ironing. 6 steam tip holes. continuous steam. self-cleaning system. dial thermostat control.
This Ultraglide iron gets the job done and makes ironing a little less tedious than irons of previous years. The scratch-resistant, non-stick Ultraglide Diffusion soleplate glides smoothly over clothes so ironing goes faster and requires less pressure. Tiny holes in the soleplate disperse steam evenly, making it easier to remove wrinkles. A sliding lever in front of the iron's handle lets you adjust the amount of steam. For tough wrinkles, a burst of steam button delivers a steady spray of water. A spray nozzle on the front of the iron sends a cool mist directly in front of the area being ironed for further help with wrinkle removal. The 250-milliliter water reservoir is a transparent blue plastic, allowing you to view how much water is left. A slide-out drawer on the iron's handle speeds up refilling and ensures that water won't leak out. The iron has a self-cleaning system to help flush out mineral build-up and prolong its life. A 9-foot cord provides plenty of maneuverability without concern about tangles. The soleplate on this iron is covered under a 10-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Surprised:
I ordered the 1749 and the product was no longer available, and the vendor upgraded me at no charge. I like the non stick sole plate, it is a good general use iron. It is VERY IMPORTANT to note that the upgrade HAS an automatic shut off. Not good for crafting... again good general use iron
Warning for sewing customers:
The main reason that I purchased this particular item is because I am a sewer, and I needed an iron that DIDN'T have an automatic shut-off, and this is the only general (not specialty for quilting, etc.) iron that my internet search was able to find without this feature. Unfortunately, I just received this item, and I think that T-Fal must have added the feature in its most recent release of the iron, because mine has the Auto Shut-Off feature included. And (although there is probably a better solution, I... more info
aweful:
I thouroughly read reviews before purchasing. was looking to replace a broken steam iron. this does not make for a good replacement. Takes a long time to iron with and a long time to "master" .
Nice iron for the money:
Nice iron for the money. durable and very handy. Like the long cord and the fact thatyou can use tap water in the steamer!
