Handcrafted of porcelain enamel cast iron, it's designed to perform with recipes that are started on top of the stove and are finished in the oven. It's nearly 10-inches in diameter with 2-inch high sides and has large flat side handles that make it easy to lift, rotate or flip foods over onto a plate. Makes great tart tatin but have found several other uses for the pan. Glad I got it!

Such a lovely piece:

I saw this item at William's Sonoma website and looked it up at Amazon to avoid paying shipping. So far I've used it only once but I love it. I can't wait to use it more. It was great for making a frittata that you start on the stove and transfer to the oven. What was even better is that it actually fits in my small over the counter oven (I prefer to use the small oven as opposed to the standard size one because it's more convinient). I bought this pan instead of the 2-qt Buffet Casserole pan:

WHAT I INITIALLY WANTED TO BUY: A small buffet pan to cook two servings when it's just my husband and myself for dinner. (Basically, my 3-1/2" buffet casserole is too big to cook in for just two servings, so I needed something smaller.)
BUT I BOUGHT THIS PAN INSTEAD: When I found out that the lid of my 4-1/2" round oven fits on top of this pan, which can turn this pan into a flat bottomed buffet casserole pan.

Beautiful, functional pan:

I bought this just so I could use it for a tarte tatin recipe, but know that it will work for so many other dishes. Very functional, especially with those wide set handles that don't get hot. Gorgeous flame color too. I have some high-end stainless cookware that I love, but may have to buy more Le Creuset now.
