Editorial Review:

After installing this software on your computer, you'll be able to convert favorite clip art, scanned art, and other images to embroidery using a separate card writing system (such as Simplicity's Smart Box, not included). The program offers a wide range of images that automatically digitize. Plus, you can select from 23 fabric and weights--from silk shirt to baby blanket--to ensure density and underlay come out properly. Use the Auto Digitize Wizard or Graphic Editor for an image color change, color reduction, size, rotation, repetition, and more. If it all sounds confusing, don't worry: the user guide walks you through each step of the process with clear instructions and illustrations. A bonus CD from Cosmi includes 200,000 clip art images--80 of which are ready for quick conversion, and have been printed in booklet format for easy reviewing. The software also handles a wide variety of formats, including vector and bitmap images, .emf, .wmf, .jpg, .mac, and .pcd. Minimum computer requirements are: Pentium 166 processor, 64 MB RAM, CD-ROM drive, 15 MB of hard drive space, Windows 95 or above, a 640 X 480 display or better, and a mouse. Free technical support is available. --Ann Bieri

But it does not do a great job on all images but my embroidery needs are for simple images and for me it is a wonderful, well priced software.

Smart Box:

I meant to put this on the Smart Box Review.

Not So Bad, considering.:

Sure it's the bottom of the line in embroidery software and you do get what you pay for but it does work. The trick is to spend time in a drawing or photo program manipulating the image before running it through this program since this program doesn't provide for any flexibility. Garbage in, garbage out as they used to say.

So far I've only been working with single color images. I've had luck with photographs manipulated into extreme high contrast. What photographers refer to as Kodalith, after a sheet... more info
