Brother 31 Stitch Sewing Machine:

It's not the most powerful thing out there, you can't do a lot of sewing on very heavy fabrics or leather. You could make some light weight drapes but, upholstery fabric might be too much for this machine to handle.
For the money it made a great gift for my daughter to sew on.
Now she can make minor repairs to clothing or sew herself a nice dress.

Good value for a small machine:

The Brother sewing machine was intimidating at first glance, but it all came back to me after I wound the bobbin. The manual and pictograms on the machine made things easy to use and understand. Operates very much like a Singer and has nice features for the price.

Excellent Deal for all-purpose novice sewing:

I purchased this item to sew a "kung-fu" carrying bag that can hold long 8-footer spear and staff while holding bunch of other stuff in it. Thick sewing did not cause it any problem as I sewed zipper through double-fold material, and sewed on haress which is also quite thick without any problems. The set-up is very easy, straightforward. GREAT SEWING MACHINE:

This is my first sewing machine. I did not buy this machine to sew some major products, however, I have sewn some things around house such as Quilt bed spread and curtain and many many dog clothes. It has worked great so far and I am loving this product.
