Editorial Review:
Here's a saw packing the power of Makita and the convenience of cordless, the best of both worlds. It's incredibly light and a cinch to handle, and at 4.6 pounds, it's easy on the body. All the adjustments are clear and easy to change. Makita's batteries have a great reputation for good reason--they deliver plenty of power and hold their charge. This little saw is so versatile, we can imagine using it for dozens of things: cutting sheets, trim, rows of dowels for crafters, flooring, you name it. It evens bevels to 45 degrees--we think that's a great feature for such a small package. The clever design leaves it feeling totally balanced in your hand. You'll find yourself reaching for it instead of the standard 7-inch saw, and it will get the job done.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Trim saw:
Ugly, but it does the job, and its light as a feather! Great for cutting thinner trim but it has its limitations. Spins the blade fairly slowly but its fast enough to cut to a good finish. Seems to be variable torque that kicks in to maintain blade speed under any load. Plenty of battery life too and great for small or detail cutting. Perhaps a blade with just a few more teeth would have been a batter match for this saw, but the blades are so small, you probably couldnt fit a lot more teeth anyway!more info
Best little saw ever!!:
I bought this saw for my big task of replacing 13 windows in my house! I have 2 windows to go and this saw has worked PERFECT! I would recommend it to anyone! By the way I am quoting my husband I didn't actually use the saw myself =)
Not Bad for the money!:
Yes, I read a lot of reviews on this saw and the cheaper one and glad I went with this one. Although not the high speed of larger ones, I have used mine on drywall, wood, molding and backer board and all with the stock blade so I can't complain. I really didn't think it would do that well because you know you can't afford to buy cheap tools and for $178 it was well worth it. Not many Mfg's make this size saw and it' s nice to have. Wish DeWalt would make one..
Unique:
This is a very cool little saw, handy and well designed for thin stock, and no one but Makita makes anything like it. Only wish it took the same 18V lithium batteries as my other Makita tools - they make way too many battery types.
