8-ounce lidded bean hopper; removable burr for easy cleaning
Editorial Review:
The coffee grinder for those who appreciate the taste of exquisite coffee. With its 17 grinder positions, this grinder allows you to grind coffee beans from very fine to coarse. Makes from 2-12 cups, Model #GVX1-14. One year limited warranty.
This smartly designed, finely tunable burr coffee grinder from Krups is built on the premise that good coffee starts with the freshest, most appropriate grind. Equipped with an expert-quality burr milling system, the machine turns out very consistent grounds with minimal heat for the best-tasting coffee. Its coarseness dial offers 17 distinct settings to create precisely the right grind for the occasion, brewing method, and kind of bean. In addition, the quantity dial, ranging from 2 to 12 cups, lets you grind no more coffee than you need, which helps preserve fresh aroma and flavor.
Structurally handsome and easy to use, the grinder features a large transparent bean hopper with a clearly marked "max" line. The grounds container, also transparent, is lidded and removable for tidy transport to the espresso machine or French press. Simple maintenance is also a boon here--the burr removes for easy cleanup and Krups includes a cleaning brush for the hopper. Shiny and matte black with silver accents, the grinder looks dashing on the countertop without drawing excess attention to itself. It stands 10-1/2 by 4-3/4 by 5-3/4 inches and carries a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

motor is weak:
I purchased this machine at Starbucks because I thought they knew something about coffee. I was wrong! The motor is too weak and the machine constantly stalls out (set at medium). I have to hold it and shake it every time I want to grind coffee and re-push the start button every minute. I am looking for a machine with a more powerful motor and I am willing to pay more. LR
One grind grinder:
This coffee grinder ground coffee the same consistency despite the setting. It didn't work for a french press as it was not coarse enough.
Dissapointed in the short life-span:
This grinder is smallish, quiet, and grinds evenly... for a while. After about a year (during which it has been cleaned regularly), it stopped taking beans into the grind mechanism - resulting in an uneven amount of ground coffee. In addition, it is also very messy - grounds get all over the place around the grinder while it is working, worse than other grinders I've used. Very frustrating... definitely not worth the price.
Not good for the price:
I had to return it. It does not grind well (as in coarse) enough for french press, makes a lot of dust instead. Receptacle container is made of cheap plastic that causes coffee grounds and dust cling to it. If you're looking for a garden variety grinder for medium fineness (for drip), $15 blade-type models would do the job for a fraction of price.
