Riser Block Alignment Issues and Solution:

The riser block arrived intact with all the necessary accessories to set it up. However, like several other reviewers, I experienced an alignment problem that put the wheels coplanar so far out of square that the blade rode dangerously on the very front edge of the bottom wheel. All manipulation of the block and the coplanar adjustment failed to solve the problem.

Powermatic Riser Bolck Bargin:

I am impressed! After being involved in maintenance for more than 25 yrs and reading some of the reviews, I was concerned. From start to finish it took about 1.5 hrs ( I had a helper while lifting the top on and off). I had no line up problems and I thought the written instruction were right on the mark if you followed them in the order which they were written. You really do need to follow the instructions in order and not ignore them because there are a couple of things that are not intuative.

A Worthy Upgrade:

I bought the riser block along with the band saw. I assembled the band saw one day, and the riser block the next. After doing it this way, I'm not sure there was any advantage to be gain by trying to install the riser block at the same time as the general saw assembly. (In other words, I think I did the right thing is doing it the way I did.)

After reading other reviews, I was leery about getting this riser block, but I wanted the added capacity. Well, it arrived today, and the entire conversion took less then 1 hour. (Can be done by one person, if planned out correctly - like having the bolt in close reach while putting the top back on - and being careful not to drop the top assembly during removal and replacement.)
