About this Thin Kerf General Purpose Saw Blade
This 10-inch, 40-tooth, thin kerf general purpose blade from Freud gives you ultra long life and excellent finish on both the top and bottom of laminates, melamines, and plywoods. The Perma-Shield permanent non-stick coating prevents heat build-up, gumming, and corrosion for long life. This blade's anti-vibration reeds practically eliminate vibration for clean, true cuts every time. The ideal working range is from 3/4 to 3-1/2-inches thick for crosscutting, and 1/4 to 1-inch thick for ripping. Thinner or thicker material may be cut, but some loss of surface finish may occur.

This blade is ideal for heavy-duty, general purpose applications. It rips and crosscuts wood, chip board, plywood, and laminates.

general purpose:

It's a general purpose blade. It does nothing spectacular, but it does cut much better than (likely) anything that came with your new or old saw. Great for ripping, OK to nimbly-above-average for cross-cutting with a crosscut table. Works well for all but the super-specialized woodworker.

Not perfect, but generally very good:

This blade is advertised as a general purpose blade and it is exactly that. Using it in a radial arm saw I have found that in cross cutting it works very well, but in ripping long pieces of wood it bogs down, whereas a ripping blade would not. It is, as most compromises are, imperfect, but within that limitation, it is a good blade.

Great all around blade:

Super general purpose blade. It rips, crosscuts, and cuts sheetgoods all reasonably well. It's quiet and well made and wood glides across it easily. I'd have to spend about $[...] to do better

Worth Every Penny!:

Even those who use a dedicated rip blade and a dedicated crosscut blade will occasionally need a good general purpose blade like the LU86, and I can think of no better value that's readily available than this 40T thin kerf Freud. And for those who prefer to use one blade for most cuts, this blade is a no nonsense blue collar workhorse.
