The Delta GR275 6 inch, variable speed grinder features three distinct types of wheels powered by a 2.0 amp induction motor for both reliability and convenience. Each wheel type provides different functions for the grinder, whether it's for sharpening, grinding or buffering. With the ability to function for a variety of grinding applications, each wheel is versatile in and of itself. The standard grinding wheel can function at top speed for rough grinding and speedy removal and the grinder is designed with an extendable, built-in diamond dresser which functions by aligning the white sharpening wheel to the edge so the surface is always flat. In addition, the variable speed range of 2,000 to 3,450 rpm permits slower speeds while the white sharpening stone is in use, resulting in fewer sparks, cooler operation, and greater command over the edge. The sharpening stone also has a designated tool rest with a drill bit rest milled into it so that a precise angle is maintained throughout the application. For stability, it's fixed to a large cast-iron base and includes two removable tool rests, which are also constructed out of cast-iron. It also features an accessible safety switch and variable speed dial at the front of the grinder and easy to adjust clear safety shields with convenient thumb screws. Included on the grinder is a 40 watt, easy to bend goose neck lamp, which can be maneuvered to illuminate either of the grinding wheels and still keep a secure distance.

A nice tool for the woodworker's shop:
Delta is a brand one can count on. The quality is great and the functionality is just what I wanted. A good buy!
grinder:
This grinder meets my requirements.
It was easy and quick to set up.
All the parts were there.
It is good for the price.
Okay Grinder:
The drawbacks mentioned on the other reviews I found the same with my grinder. It seems Delta's quality control has a touch of dyslexia. With common sense, it is not a big issue. The one negative I found was that the left tool rest (the one they show as the right tool rest on the diagram) has v-groove indention, I guess for drill bit sharpening, I wish they would have just given a flat surface rest instead, or in addition. I may have to epoxy a flat plate to it. And like one other reviewer said, the... more info
Best Small Grinder on the Market Today:
IMHO this is the best small grinder on the market that I could uncover during an intensive slurp thru the Internet maze. It has everyting you need to sharpen everything from dull steak knives, cheap pocket knives, lawn mower blades and gardening tools. Beyond those limitations you'll need to invest in a larger tool. This grinder will sit on your bench and not vibrate off at any speed. The grinder features a variable speed control and that capability puts it way out front of the others. However, I wanted to... more info
