This product is really good for roughing in a flat surface. But if you don't use it right you will waste your money. Unlike the finer grits the 36 grit will easily tear the belt near the end if it is not stretched and fasted well. Once you tear off the end couple of inches it is useless. I found that if you install the belt as tight as you can then run a couple boards through, then re-stretch and re-tighten. This reduces the tendancy to tear the belt.
