Automatic selection of camera white-balance settings and auto-adjustment of zoom flash position to match camera's sensor size
Flash head zoom covers the range 24mm to 105mm; integrated diffusion panel allows extends coverage to 14mm
Compatible with distance-linked E-TTL II system; supports other EOS cameras that do not support E-TTL II, when required
Editorial Review:
This exciting new addition to the EOS System combines compact size and affordability with an added dose of features and sophistication. Improving on the previous model, Speedlite 420EX, the new 430EX can now be set into manual flash mode (full power~1/64). Flash compensation can be set on the flash unit, and manual control of the flash zoom head is now possible. Improvements in its circuitry make recycle time 40% faster, and since it is compatible with Canon's wireless E-TTL, it can be used as an affordable "slave unit."

Very good for the price...:
Very good for the price that is easy to use, my camera is a 350D (XT) and the configuration can handle it from there. The low point is that you can not shoot in remote wireless adapter or without fee is about the same price of the flash. I recommend 99%. Greetings from Chile.!
good but not pefect:
this speedlite unit is good for indoor photography.
Pros:
1. light quality
2. build quality
3. recycling time, much better than the flash lights I used before. Cons:
1. off camera flash ability
2. the screw-on button is not convenient
3. the index (430) is not high enough
Great Flash!:
I am just starting out so this is a great flash for the price. I've never used it straight on, but bouce it which works great! I wish I would have got a diffuser with it though. Great buy!
Not a pro? This is for you!:

All year, she enjoyed the camera, but I had been somewhat disappointed that the photos were not all that remarkably different from our 6.1 megapixel Kodak Easyshare point and shoot camera. Throughout the past year, I continued to think that the lack of "wow factor" must be due to only having the standard 18-55 mm lens that came standard with the camera. I knew the xti had... more info
