The Jet 50-Inch Parallel Clamp allows for precision and power with exact 90-degree clamping at up to 1,000-pounds of pressure which minimizes the tendency of warping and distortion of the work piece. They slip or grab on the bar!:
I own two of these in my collection of assorted clamps and brands. One of them tends to slip all the time when trying to tighten the screw, or will not slide when you want it to, for quick adjustment. Very disappointed and I will stick with Bessey, Scott Phillips or Jorgensen.
Jet Clamps:
I purchased this set after using the Bessey line for many years. I like the Jet set more. Very good clamps. I like the handle much more. The release lever is also a nice feature.
Can you have too many clamps?:
The answer of course is no - if you are a woodworker. These jet clamps are exceptional in their design; they are sturdy; accurate in face angle, and they are very easy to use. I purchased three of the 50" model and will soon be adding other lengths to my collection.
Best of the best:
Parallel clamps are incredibly sturdy and useful. There aren't any bargains. A good parallel clamp is difficult to make, and I'm only aware of premium lines. I own some Jorgensens, and I've looked at Bessey and Gross Stabil. It's hard to go wrong with any of the brands, but I think Jet clamps are the best. They are easy to adjust, and the head stays put until you squeeze the trigger. Trigger-operated heads are appearing on more brands of clamps, and Jet is the first to put them on a parallel head clamp. I... more info
