Great choice to get you into hot water: I originally bought this pot from a Target store. I liked it so much I bought three more, one for each daughter and one for my mother in law. I've had others in the past, but this has a great hand feel and is easy to pour. It also seems quicker than the last one I had. The finish is great and goes well with my new steel appliances. Love it, don't know how I lived without it.: After much thought and debate (would it just be another unnecessary Good value for $$$: I've owned about a half dozen electric kettles over the years. My watchword: the simpler, the better. Since these kettles don't do much except boil water, what can get complicated? Well, one kettle (a Black & Decker)broke a piece off the top-- out it went. My most recent one was also the longest lasting AND cheapest:a 1.7 liter Proctor Silex. OK, it's plastic . . . but I never noticed it imparted a plastic-y taste to the water. The electrical contact was simpler than on kettles that allow you to seat...
