Riedel Vinum Wine Glasses make every drop of wine taste its best. Riedel revolutionized glassware by customizing the shape of wine glasses to a particular type of wine. Each wine glass is fine-tuned to direct the flow of the wine onto parts of the palate that will best express the flavors and aromas of a specific wine varietal. The fine crystal offers superb clarity so you can experience the wine's color and texture. Moreover, all machine made Vinum stems are completely dishwasher safe. Made of over 24% leaded crystal. The Ridel Vinum Pinot Noir / Burgundy wine glass is ideal for full-bodied red wines with high acidity and moderate tannins. Its slightly tapered rim directs the flow of wine toward the front palate, highlighting the rich fruit while tempering the acidity. The generously sized bowl provides ample breathing space for the bouquet to develop, capturing the nuances of the wineâs aromas. Recommended for: Barbaresco, Barbera, Barolo, Burgundy (red), Gamay, Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir. Size: 8-1/4"H, 24-3/4 oz. Riedel Model # 6416/7
Renowned Austrian glassmaker Riedel designs the shape of each glass to most fully enhance the appreciation of the wine within. The Burgundy glass is large and rounded to allow the bouquet of a red wine to flourish. Not just any red wine, but reds high in acidity with moderate tannin levels, such as Red Burgundy and Pinot Noir. The glass helps offset the acidity of the wine by directing it right to the zone on the tongue that registers sweetness. Each beautifully balanced glass stands 8-1/4 inches tall and holds a generous 24-3/4 ounces at full capacity. This set of two makes a superb wedding gift or adds to an existing collection for the serious wine drinker.
Comprised of more than 24 percent lead crystal for superb brilliance and clarity, Vinum wine glasses are nevertheless affordable because they are machine-made rather than mouth-blown. Riedel introduced the popular Vinum line, including the Burgundy glass, in 1986. While all Vinum glassware is dishwasher-safe, Riedel recommends washing the crystal by hand to prevent detergent residue that can affect wine taste. --Ann Bieri

Love it!:
We have been using these glasses for over 2 years, and I have not had a problem with any of them breaking, yet. I am very careful when I use them, but it has also survived our move cross-country. I don't wash my glasses with soap all the time, unless it was used by a guest or I ate greasy food along with my wine.
Nice glass, but dangerous!:
Nice glass - great shape for a wonderful wine tasting experience BUT this glass is extremely fragile and should be considered a bit dangerous. We bought 4 and I took them out of the box to begin using them. I now have 11 stitches in my hand from washing the first glass when the stem broke with very little pressure. I've washed wine glasses for years and never this result. While I was at the ER my wife went to wash the rest of ours. She knew they were fragile since I just broke one and while gingerly washing... more info
Makes wine even more delightful:
These glasses are just right for enjoying a pinot noir, shiraz or even a merlot. The curves of the goblet allow you to really swirl your wine to release the 'bouquet'. Hand washing is a bit of a pain, but the experience of drinking a good red wine from this glass is well worth it.
