Do not buy unless you love the smell of burnt coffee in the morning:

I bought this cause I loved the idea of the front loading. However I am having the same problem of the leaking from the back. Coffee pools on the burner leaving a stinky dirty mess.
I can get another from Delonghi but I am not sure I want to pay them $10 to ship me another one that may have the same defect.
It's my first Delonghi purchase and I am disappointed!

Leaks a lot!:

Had this coffeemaker since August - really liked the design. It only gets used about three times a week. In less than two months it started leaking brewed coffee unto the hot plate making a sticky burned on mess, same problem as other reviewers have experienced.

Leaks:

I had the same leaking problem that another reviewer had. After about 1 month of daily use this unit starts leaking from the back and liquid coffee goes down to the warming plate making a mess and causing a burnt coffee smell. The company kindly sent me another unit but the same thing happened. So now they are sending me a second replacement and I chose a different model which hopefully will be more reliable. But based on the review on that unit I am not optimistic that unit is any better.

DeLonghi front-load coffee pot:

We really like this coffee pot. The front load access for both water and coffee grounds means no sliding the pot in and out of its place on the kitchen counter. The pot had a defect, however. Coffee would drip down the lever at the back that released the coffee from the basket and sizzle on the hot plate, making a mess. We called DeLonghi at the 800-number in the booklet and they admitted to a design defect that had been corrected in newer models.
