Worth the money - "fix" for Sony TV remotes:
I've purchased a multitude of cheap space heaters for my finished basement over the years. Most have broken down for one reason or another within two years. I've had this Vornado for over two years now and it's has been excellent. A quick read of the features will point out how it differs from conventional space heaters. Finally foud the heater that warms up my family room!:
My house has floor heating downstairs which is very expensive to run. We spend our time mainly in the family room but only have one Thermostat for the whole of downstairs. To save on energy costs this winter I decided to look for a space heater. Over the last 2 weeks I've tried 5 different heaters and was not satisfied with any of them until I brought home the Vornado 500! I've only had this heater for just over a week, so I am not sure about it's long term reliability. Pros:
It works, it was not broken or dead-on-arrival. That is something to celebrate with the portable electric heater industry nowadays.
When you turn the power on, it remembers your last setting.
The digital thermostat seems to be working accurately.
It has a remote control, which I am finding quite convenient, it is spoiling me.
The fan is fairly quiet, it is not as quiet... more info
Scary!:
We have been using this heater for about 5 months now in our infant daughter's room. Up until last night, the product was fine. Last night we could smell a burning smell from outside of her room coming from the heater! The heater has never been moved and is always set to the same temperature so we are not sure what happened. Needless to say, this was extremely scary and we won't be using it anymore! All reviews I've read for the product are generally good so perhaps this is a fluke. The LCD light on... more info
